Teaching Foundation students to write a narrative can feel like a BIG job.

Where do you start? How do you explain beginning, middle and end? How do you get students from a simple idea to an actual story? And what are you supposed to model along the way?

This Narrative Writing Unit breaks the whole process down into manageable, step-by-step lessons.

Please check out the PREVIEW here

PLEASE NOTE

Take the guesswork out of teaching narrative writing

Instead of asking students to sit down and “write a story”, this unit builds their skills gradually.

Students first learn about the key parts of a narrative:

SETTING • CHARACTERS • BEGINNING • MIDDLE • END

They then use included modelled books to explore these parts in real stories before moving on to writing each part themselves.

From there, students plan their own narrative and work through the beginning, middle and end one step at a time.

By the end of the unit, students have planned, written and shared their own narrative.

No trying to work out what to teach next. No jumping straight from “here's a story” to “now write one”.

Just a clear teaching sequence that takes students from exploring stories to creating their own.

A gradual approach that makes narrative writing achievable

Students don't have to write an entire story in one sitting.

They learn the parts.

They see them in action.

They practise writing each part.

They plan their own story.

Then they put it all together.

One step at a time.

So instead of staring at a blank page wondering what to write, your students have a clear structure to follow.

And instead of having to create the whole teaching sequence yourself, it's already planned for you.
